The project's location is a part within existing industrial halls in the area of former Agro Nova Gorica in the municipality Šempeter-Vrtojba. The structures build in this area in the 70-ies and 80-ies are being gradually renovated by the company Intra Lighting, trasforming them into warehouse-logistics, office- bussines areas and also to educational centre, which led to the project of Light Academy.
The company Intra Lighting plans to trasform the location into a technical/educational and a showroom space for their employees, project leaders, architects and light designers. The design is meeting the needs for classrooms, workshops, a lecture room in one part of the building and a showroom area for a temporarily placement of equipment and lighting on the other side. An entrance hall, small coffee shop, toilets, communications and administration areas are spreding through the intermediate part. An ouside atrium offers an open link between both complexes (educational and exhibition/showroom). Above all, the architecture needs to be functional and has to allow flexibility for periodical interior settings. Interiors offer as many different variations for settings of lighting (hanged, recessed, decorative lighting and light objects). Modularity is the key of the project, it adds to the programmatic content, construction and consequently on the functionality of the building. The concept avoids final solutions, but proposes a method of endlessly shifting composition of space. Within this frame, the client can use the space creatively, uses the flexibility of the space in the ever-changing settings, without being limited by changing the initial concept of the building.
